'Items To Keep Out of The Landfill' Program

The Items to Keep Out of The Landfill program originated from our Founder's frustration of her single use, plastic prescription pill bottles. She searched high and low for a place that could reuse these pesky plastics and sure enough, there was a disaster relief organization that could! Next thing you know, the collection list expanded and more items were being accepted in certain cities as volunteers offered to help.

Earthub has created a waste diversion system like no other! A huge shout out to all of volunteers - you make our planet a better place everyday!

How It Works

Your Chapter

The accepted collection items depend on your location. We have a few cities that are 'official' Chapters which mean they collect a variety of items. Some cities across the country only collect the prescription pill bottles.

Locations

You must *EMAIL* Earthub for the list of drop-off locations. This is a volunteer run program and most of the drop-off locations are private residences, therefore we do not post these addresses on public forums. Email environment@earthub.ca with your city for the applicable information in your area!

Your Collection

Collect your items and clean them prior to drop-off! Since we are volunteer run, we do not have the capacity to clean dirty items. Please help us in our efforts to reuse - only drop-off clean items.

Save emissions by dropping your items off in bulk!

When donating your clean prescription pill bottles, a monetary donation of $0.10-$0.30 is mandatory to cover the shipment of your bottle. Shipping costs vary by city so the amount will be provided when you inquire via email. Monetary donations can be included in your drop-off (in a small baggie inside of just one of your pill bottles). If you wish to e-transfer instead, use accounting@earthub.ca with the Secret Question as insert YOUR City and Answer as "Chapter"

Our program is not the solution but life happens; refusal and reduction are not always possible in our daily lives. Some of the items we collect are unavoidable but when you can, opt for the first 2 'R's. As Anne Marie Bonneau has said, "We don't need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly."
